A New Discovery

A New Discovery
It was this photoshoot in the latest addition of Dazed and Confused magazine that first brought my attention to the amazing make up brand Illamasqua...

The styling by Katie Shillingford is amazing! But the makeup by Alex Box was what I really loved (in particular the first image) ...so much so I instantly had to find out more about Illamasqua...

Awarded CoolBrands® status in 2011 they're the makeup brand for your alter ego!

My top 3 buys:

Not for the shy or reserved this lipstick is the ultimate in fashion statements!

Forget Dorothy's red sparkly shoes! This nail varnish is way to much of a statement for Kansas!

Marni at H&M

Marni at H&M
Thursday 8th March 2012 was the release date of the new Marni and H&M collection. Being busy at my TFN placement I only got chance to check it out the next day, and to my dissapointment most of it was gone...

but then that's the beauty of online shopping!

The first thing that brought my attention to this collection was the commercial... stylish 20 somethings attending parties and falling in love all by the poolside in some hot Moroccan. city Who doesn't want a wardrobe that can bring us a step closer to this lifestyle?

I loved the silk peacock printed outfits; matching shirt, trousers and skirt combinations creating a real Moroccan feel!

...my other fav pieces had to be these relaxed 'pyjama style' shirt and shorts combination, perfect for wearing on a hot summers night with a wedge heel or gladiator sandle.

Finally, my absolute favorite part of the collection had to be the accessories! One in particular being this stunning sequin collar, available in black & white... I shall be without a doubt adding one of these to my wardrobe very soon!

Yeeeeha! Cowboy

Yeeeeha! Cowboy
So as I'm sure you're all aware the past few weeks have seen many designers show their fall 2012 collections in New York, London, Milan & Paris and as an enthusiastic fashionista I've been making sure I keep fully topped up on all the latest fashion gossip.

There have been many amazing collections come down the runways so far and one of my favorites has to be Band of Outsiders shown in New York Feb 11th.

The models looked like they'd walked straight out of a Spaghetti Western wearing the most amazing clothes. The menswear managed to tie in classic 'cowboy' pieces such as denim, hats and chunky leather boots whilst keeping a modern twist with the bright coloured shirts & trousers and puffer jackets. I particularly loved the chunky knitted scarves and am already planning on investing in one for the winter!

For me the womenswear totally rocked it! The long flowing dresses were simple yet show stopping as braless models walked confidently down the runway. I loved the small floral print on the dresses, giving them a real 'country western' feel and the touches of fur were just perfect for taking these dresses straight through the winter. Having seen this collection I instantly felt obliged to dig out my cowboy boots and invest in a white floral maxi... Heck, I might even add a cowboy hat too! Yeeeeha!!!

Just a warning I'm now feeling totally inspired! ...So keep an eye out for some real Spaghetti Western styling coming up soon.

A New Venture...

A New Venture
So a little bit of good news!

...last week I officially started my work placement at  The Fashion Network in Manchester and after my second week there...
I love it!

As an assistant stylist it's been my role to go in 1 day a week and along with assisting on shoots, keep the Blog & eBay store up-to-date. It's been alot of hard work but I've already worked with some great people and even got to assist on a product shoot for up and coming brand Bewley and Ritch!

I'm loving life so far as a fashion intern and am aiming to keep you all up-to-date on what I get up to whilst at TFN.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention... check out my first 2 posts on TFN's blog!

So Much Love for Valentino

So Much Love for Valentino
So my favourite ad in the March edition of Vogue was by far Valentino's Spring/Summer Campaign for 2012! I immediately fell in love with the beautiful white lace dresses featured... so much so that I've been on a mission ever since to find the perfect lace dress (that I can afford) to add to my wardrobe!
I love the soft elegance to the images and the contrast between the beautiful models & expensive clothes against the rural broken surroundings.
This imagery is definitely going to be inspiration for some of my up and coming projects...

...and just in case you too feel that you now need a gorgeous lace dress to add to your wardrobe here are a few of my favourites!
(affordable ones of course!)
